The Country Club of Hilton Head was meticulously crafted by renowned golf course architect Rees Jones in 1986. This exceptional course diverges from the typical Lowcountry landscape, leading players through enchanting groves of majestic live oaks. One of the standout features of the course is diversity in hole design. Players encounter generously wide fairways, interspersed with challenging ones that thread their way between rows of trees, ponds, and mounded bunkers. Each of the 18 championship holes possesses its own unique character. The layout features 13 doglegs, water on nearly every hole, and grass hollows along with 96 sand bunkers, each with a unique shape and size. On-course yardage markers are placed on cart paths and fairways at 100, 150, and 200 yards. Sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the greens, while bushes lining the sides indicate the 150-yard mark. Color-coded flags indicate the pin placements—front, middle, or back. This course enjoys a strategic location along historic “Skull Creek” and proudly claims the island’s highest elevation point, with the signature 12th hole providing an unforgettable view. The course offers the perfect blend of challenge and beauty.
