Ocean Point Golf Links was the first of the two courses at Fripp Island Resort, opening in 1964. The design is attributed to renowned architect George Cobb. Ocean Point occupies the northernmost tip of Fripp Island and boasts numerous holes that skirt the Atlantic Ocean and the Fripp Inlet. The course affords breathtaking views on the 9th, 10th, 14th, 15th, 16th, and 18th holes. The course presents players with small, well-bunkered greens that reward precise iron play. However, recognizing the impact of the coastal winds on this seaside course, Cobb designed it to allow players to run the ball onto most of the greens. Playing Ocean Point Golf Links on a breezy day imparts a newfound appreciation for well-designed links courses and the harmonious interplay between manmade and natural beauty. Ocean Point Golf Links is a cherished jewel at Fripp Island Resort and one of South Carolina's premier golf courses, A recent bold renovation has capitalized on the panoramic vistas, now offering stunning ocean or inlet views on 10 of its 18 holes, with both the front and back nine culminating against the backdrop of the majestic Atlantic Ocean.
Signature Holes:
Hole 3: A picturesque par-5 that winds along the coastline, providing stunning ocean views. The hole features strategic bunkers and natural obstacles, requiring accurate tee shots and well-placed approaches to navigate the dogleg and reach the green in regulation.
Hole 15 This memorable par-4 offers a dramatic tee shot with sweeping views of the ocean and the surrounding marshlands. The hole’s layout requires a precise drive to avoid water hazards and bunkers, with an approach shot that demands accuracy to reach the well-protected green.
