Sea Pines Country Club is the only members-only golf course within Sea Pines, providing a private and tranquil environment for those fortunate enough to play here. Membership at Sea Pines Country Club goes beyond just access to world-class golf—it’s an invitation to a vibrant community where new friendships are formed, and a wide range of activities and services are enjoyed. Originally crafted by the legendary duo of Arnold Palmer and Frank Duane, the course has been meticulously rebuilt by the renowned golf course architect Clyde Johnston, who has maintained the original character while introducing modern enhancements that elevate the playing experience. One of the defining features of the Country Club Course is its abundance of water hazards, which come into play on all but two holes. These water features not only enhance the visual appeal of the course but also add a layer of strategic complexity that requires careful shot planning and precision. The layout is designed to be both forgiving and challenging, with wide fairways that offer generous landing areas, but with hazards and bunkers strategically placed to catch errant shots.
Signature Holes:
Hole 3 – Par 5: The 3rd hole is a stunning par-5 that plays along a large lake, offering both a visual treat and a strategic challenge. The hole begins with a wide fairway that narrows as it approaches the green, with the lake running along the entire left side. Long hitters may be tempted to go for the green in two, but they must carry the water hazard and avoid a series of bunkers that guard the front and right side of the green. The approach shot is particularly challenging, as the green is elevated and slopes toward the water, making distance control and accuracy crucial.
Hole 12 – Par 4: The 12th hole is a picturesque par-4 that plays alongside a meandering creek, which runs along the left side of the fairway and crosses in front of the green. The hole features a dogleg left, with the creek and a series of bunkers strategically placed to challenge both the drive and the approach shot. The green is large but features subtle undulations that can make putting particularly tricky, especially with the creek lurking just in front. This hole is a true test of precision and course management.
Hole 17 – Par 3: The 17th hole is a breathtaking par-3 that plays over a serene pond to a green that is surrounded by water on three sides. The hole plays 168 yards from the back tees, and the green is large but features a significant slope from back to front. The water hazard is intimidating, and the bunkers that guard the front and left side of the green only add to the challenge. This hole is a favorite among members for its beauty and difficulty, and it provides a memorable test of nerve and precision.
